…NEED MULTIPLE MASTER VERSIONS?
Streaming platforms are each using their own loudness algorithms to equal out perceived loudness of their complete music catalog. Listeners can then have a more “homogeneous” listening experience with somewhat equally loud songs throughout the complete music catalog.
Loud songs are likely to get turned down in level, quieter songs could potentially get brought up in level. The latter will involve some sort of limiting device to avoid clipping and in my opinion should be avoided. I generally recommend making the adjustments which best serve the actual music and focussing less on all the different loudness restrictions. That said, it can be important to create different master versions with a fitting loudness profile for CD/download shop releases and streaming, vinyl, tape, etc. Let us figure out together what is best for your project.
